Upshift vs Veda, Midas and Morpho compared

These four get shortlisted together and solve three different problems. What each one builds, how much it has shipped, and which fits the product you're launching.

Upshift and Veda build multi-strategy yield products that fintechs, exchanges and wallets launch under their own brand. Midas tokenises offchain funds, so its customers are managers bringing an existing strategy onchain. Morpho runs lending markets that other products build on top of.

Upshift is one of the four. Figures are sourced inline, checked 22 September 2026.

Three different products, one shortlist

Platform

Category

What it produces

Who it sells to

Upshift

Yield product infrastructure

Custom multi-strategy vaults under a partner's brand

Fintechs, exchanges, wallets, neobanks, chains, asset issuers

Veda

Yield product infrastructure

White-labelled vaults on its BoringVault standard

Fintechs, exchanges, wallets, neobanks, chains, asset issuers

Midas

Asset issuance

Tokenised funds, each tracking a NAV

Offchain fund managers, sold to non-US qualified investors

Morpho

Lending primitive

Immutable, permissionless lending markets

Lenders, borrowers, curators and partner apps

Midas's documentation states its mTokens "are not stablecoins or DeFi vaults". Each is issued under a prospectus through a Luxembourg securitisation vehicle, with strategy managers including Wellington, Fasanara, Apollo and Maple.

Morpho sits a layer down, where yield comes from borrowers paying interest. A vault built elsewhere can allocate into its markets as one strategy among several.

The differences show up in what each platform can run and where, rather than in who each one is for.

Which chains does each run on?

Chain counts usually come off support pages, which record intent rather than a deployment. Whether a platform can operate outside the EVM is the harder question, because every non-EVM chain means a separate contract language, toolchain and audit.

Veda's support page lists Solana, and no Solana deposits appear under its DefiLlama entry as of 22 September 2026. Its live footprint is entirely EVM, concentrated on Ink, Ethereum and Optimism. Supporting a chain and operating a vault on it are different amounts of work, and the gap shows up on all four of these platforms.

Stellar is the one none of the other three runs. Soroban contracts share no code with an EVM deployment, which is why our Stellar vaults carry their own audit. Morpho's 48 reflects a permissionless protocol anyone can deploy, a different achievement from a team operating a vault on each chain.

How many vaults has each launched?

Upshift runs 67 live vaults across 24 curators, of which 62 launched since April 2025. The quarterly rate has climbed throughout.

The core product

As collateral in some markets

A basis trade, an OTC position or an institutional loan needs a venue beyond a DeFi protocol. Our 67 vaults span DeFi yield, CeFi lending, pre-deposit campaigns, RWA and credit, and atomic redemption for card programs. Reaching centralised venues widens the strategy set and adds counterparty exposure to whichever venue holds the position.

Always make sure to do your own research and be aware of the above and any other risks before depositing.

How many curators does each work with?

A curator is the professional team running the strategy inside a vault, usually a hedge fund or asset manager. Upshift works with 24 distinct curators, including Sentora, Gamma Research, Clearstar Labs, RockawayX, K3 Capital and Monarq. Morpho publishes its list through a public API, which returns 44. Veda and Midas name partners without publishing a count.

Curators multi-home, so a network is rarely exclusive. What differs is how many live products a platform runs with each team, and how fast it can stand up the next one.

The prime stack behind Upshift

Upshift's prime stack is why the CeFi column says yes. It carries an institutional lender network, trading and pricing engines, and a policy engine enforcing restrictions at chain, protocol, token and function level, drawing on August Digital's prime brokerage. Curators can operate through a subaccount or through dedicated operator wallets, depending on what the partner's risk team prefers.

It serves over $7B in monthly transaction volume and more than $800M in loans originated as of July 2026, and can structure a credit facility against a vault. Upshift has had 10 smart contract audits across 6 independent firms, most recently Halborn in April 2026.

Where Upshift differs

Four capabilities are specific to Upshift among these four platforms.

  • Live deposits outside the EVM. Solana and Stellar both hold Upshift vaults. Veda lists Solana without live TVL on DefiLlama, Midas is EVM plus Solana in its registry, and Morpho is EVM-only.
  • Centralised venues through its own prime stack. Basis trades, OTC positions and institutional lending need a venue beyond a DeFi protocol. Veda keeps funds onchain at the fund level and Morpho is an onchain lending market.
  • Shipping rate. 62 of the 67 live vaults launched since April 2025, and the most recent quarter added 20 before it closed.
  • Product range. DeFi yield, CeFi lending, pre-deposit campaigns, RWA and credit, and atomic redemption for card programs, run across 24 curators.

Chain coverage and audit counts run closer across the four than any of these.

How to choose between them

  1. Does the strategy need centralised venues? Basis trades, OTC and institutional lending do. A purely onchain strategy doesn't.
  2. Which chains, and are any non-EVM? Compare on chains with live deposits, then ask how long a new one takes.
  3. Who carries the compliance perimeter? Check who runs KYC and AML, who is issuer of record, and which entity a regulator would call.
  4. What does the exit look like under stress? Ask about the redemption queue and who can pause. Tiering strategies by risk covers how to frame it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Upshift a competitor to Morpho?

Morpho is a lending primitive and Upshift is yield product infrastructure, so an Upshift vault can allocate into Morpho markets as one strategy among several.

What's the difference between Upshift and Midas?

Midas issues tokenised funds, so an established manager can represent an existing strategy onchain as a security. Upshift builds multi-strategy yield products that a business launches under its own brand.

Which of these supports non-EVM chains?

Upshift holds live deposits on both Solana and Stellar. Veda lists Solana on its support page without live Solana TVL on DefiLlama, Midas is EVM plus Solana in its registry, and Morpho is EVM-only.

Which supports centralised exchange strategies?

Upshift and Midas both reach centralised venues. Upshift does it through its own prime stack. Veda keeps funds onchain at the fund level, and Morpho is an onchain lending market.

How many vaults does Upshift run?

67 live vaults as of 22 September 2026 across 24 curators, with 62 launched since April 2025. The most recent quarter added 20 before it ended.
